Hi all,

I have noticed looking at the new TSRGD 2016 document that the supplementary plate for the "no entry" sign has now been extended to also include cycles.

It now reads - “Except” and “trams”, “buses”, “local buses”, “cycles”, “buses and cycles” or “local buses and cycles”; “and” may be varied to “&”.

I remember during the original TSRGD 2015 consultation it was considering to prescribe extra exceptions to the "no entry" sign in the revised TSRGD but in the Consultation Response Document (November 2014) it was decided that –

“10.7 The revised TSRGD will not further extend the use of exceptions to the "no entry" sign.”

Is the new document correct & we are now able to use “except cycles” plates with the “no entry” sign or is it an error that has been carried over from the original TSRGD 2015 draft document?

Kind Regards

Warren

SimonMorgan
March 2016

Hi Warren
Authorities in England have been able to use "Except cycles" under a 'no entry' (616) sign since October 2011, as a result of the 'area wide' special directions given to them all then. So (for England at least), DfT were right to say that there would be 'no further' extension of the exceptions.

But this is new for Wales and Scotland and it regularises the situation for England.

warren
March 2016

Hi Simon,

Thank you for your help & clearing this up for me.

Yes working in Wales this is new for us, as you know the TSRGD 2011 amendments still kept it as a non approved combination.
