I have noticed in the TSRGD 2016 that Schedule 9, Part 4, Item 5 (Diagram 652) has the "Applicable provision" No.7 relating to illumination requirements.

When adding a contraflow cycle lane / pedal cycling and changing the signing to Items 6 & 7 of the TSRGD 2016 (Diagram 960.1 & 960.2) this then removes the "Applicable provision" No.7 meaning there are no illumination requirements associated with these signs.

Is this correct? I would think that all one-way systems would have the same illumination requirements.

Well spotted, Warren.
This could be an oversight, but if so it is an old one as the 2002 TSRGD had the same distinction (or the 2011 No 2 amendment in the case of diag. 960.2). The 2016 TSRGD has simply replicated the previous requirement.

I'm guessing it was deliberate, as the signs indicating contra-flow cycling are larger, with greater 'target value' and therefore less likely to be missed.
