Hello all. I am interested in the groups experience with puffin/toucan crossings which span 3/4 lanes? We have a proposal for a toucan which would span 4 lanes (approx 14m) without a stagger, as there isn't sufficient width at this location to accommodate a staggered crossing. I would be interested in others experiences (lessons learned?). 30mph speed limit and one of our busier locations.

Hi J
We have a couple of wide crossings over four lanes that are pelicans and the complaint from peds was vehicles either driving off during the flashing amber whilst they are still crossing or that they fail to stop entirely, that appeared to be vehicles in the inner lanes who maybe didn't see the signals on the verge. We are in the process of converting one of them to a puffin but have also squeezed in a small centre island so as to get a signal in the middle although it is a bit vulnerable there.

Thanks Sean - apologies for the delayed reply. Came back with a slightly revised layout for a straight through crossing which does have an island.
